AMD is set to share more details about its future Zen 4 processors, which are expected to arrive later next year, at CES 2022, along with all the other things Team Red will have at the show.
This comes from AMD’s chief technology officer, Mark Papermaster, who gave an interview to Forbes and explained that next-generation Zen 4 CPUs are already getting some kind of broadcast at CES.
Papermaster said: βIn terms of the next generation – I am referring to CES in January. We are excited to reveal some additional details about the launch of our new products that will deliver exceptional experiences and as we said, later in the year as it progresses, we will share more details about the Zen 4 with mention Some are at CES and more will be announced over the course of 2022. It will be a very exciting year for AMD.β
Papermaster also mentions “we couldn’t be more thrilled with the next generation of products” elsewhere in the interview.
Of course, AMD has also updated Zen 3 CPUs with 3D V-Cache technology with up to 96MB of L3 cache, Papermaster notes elsewhere, and that “As we enter 2022, we’ll take a production line [Ryzen 5000] Which we are already proud of and put on steroids.β
The Zen 3 powered processors are expected to be revealed at CES, possibly along with new laptop chips and possibly new Threadripper PRO models β oh, and maybe, just maybe, we’ll peek at the new (much-needed) budget graphics cards as well.
Analysis: Are you trying to pull the focus away from Alder Lake mobile at CES?
This is exciting news from AMD’s CTO because we weren’t really expecting to hear anything about Zen 4 chips at CES 2022. The new streak is still a bit far away, and it’s likely to land in the second half of 2022 (maybe in the third quarter, remember that Lisa Su had previously suggested that this is when AMD could begin to overcome its supply problems with producing chips).
Moreover, with regard to the Zen 4 chips, Papermaster mentions optimizing not just for better performance – which is clearly given – but to “constantly increase battery life”, and while energy efficiency is once again given the goals of a new generation of silicon, it is interesting To see it specifically highlighted here.
In light of Intel’s Alder Lake processors in particular, the latest products from Team Blue use efficiency cores that will undoubtedly greatly increase battery life with laptops, when the 12th generation mobile CPUs arrive. It’s expected to be revealed at – you guessed it – CES around the corner.
